Travel Safe – COVID-19

As an accredited Queensland Department of Transport Tour Operator, Coast to Hinterland Tours and its subsidiary Coast to Hinterland Charters is adhering to the latest guidance from state and federal authorities.

Coast to Hinterland Tours and Coast to Hinterland Charters has employed a heavy focus on hygiene and sanitation, all vehicles in the fleet undergo a thorough sanitary clean including deep clean of upholstery regularly.

Our vehicles are sanitised before and after each trip with particular attention paid to high contact areas – armrests, seatbelts, door handles and handrails. Whilst on tour or charter, sanitation is also done as often as every two hours during scheduled stops with a hospital-grade disinfectant effective against Coronaviruses killing 99.9% of germs.

An industry-specific COVID Safe Plan has been adopted by Coast to Hinterland Tours and Coast to Hinterland Charters to assure that the company operate safely and can transport more passengers in our vehicles than outlined in “Queensland’s Roadmap to Easing Restrictions”

Current guidance for tour operator vehicles:

“It is not practical to provide a defined distance for physical separation while travelling on public transport services (tour vehicle) in Queensland.

Customers will need to take personal responsibility and apply common sense to support social distancing measures” More Info>>

The Chief Health Officer has approved an adjustment to the Industry COVID Safe Plan, with a checklist that transport operators can follow to allow up to 50 passengers onto coaches.

What you need to know
  • Currently, there is no limit on the number of passengers specified for commercial public passenger vehicles (tour vehicles) in the state of Queensland
  • The current guidelines do not prohibit a commercial passenger vehicle from carrying more than one passenger.
  • You do not need to wear a mask if you are healthy
  • Hand Sanitiser will be provided each time you enter the vehicle
  • Your temperature will be taken before entry to the vehicle
  • Any passenger with a suspected case of coronavirus or similar symptoms on the day will not be permitted to travel. A full credit will be provided.
  • In the event of a passenger spreading droplets (such as sneezing, coughing or vomiting), surfaces will be cleaned with hospital-grade disinfectant
  • Drivers will set the air-conditioning to external airflow instead of recirculation
  • A passenger must avoid direct contact with other passengers and drivers
  • We will never refuse or cancel a trip based on a passenger’s nationality, disability or cultural background. There are equal opportunity and anti-discrimination laws that apply

All passengers must practise good hand hygiene and cough/sneeze hygiene:

  1. Wash their hands frequently with soap and water, before and after eating, and after going to the toilet
  2. Cover their cough and sneeze with a tissue or cough/sneeze into your elbow or upper arm
